CURBSQUARE PRIVACY POLICY

We respect your right to privacy. It is our intention to inform you of how your personal information will be gathered, tracked, used, and archived within Curbsquare.com (“the Service”).

YOUR STREET ADDRESS

When you signup to the Service and give us your street address we verify it for accuracy, make sure it has not been claimed previously, and then create your user account. Street addresses are public information and we use them to send messages amongst members. The Service does not share your Email address with anyone and can't be used to find street addresses from email addresses or vice versa.

A pleasant side-effect of how the System works is that messages and postings are not anonymous so there is more civility. You may not know the names of the residents at a given street address but you know where messages, news and alerts are coming from, just as if you were receiving a postcard via the postal service.

COOKIES

Curbsquare and in some cases trusted service providers may use cookies or other markers from time to time. These enable us to personalize web pages for you, and/or to remember you for easy navigation and access during your return visits to the Service. We may collect information, including your IP address, in a form that may be personally identifiable. However, this information will only be used for analytical purposes and to safeguard the Service against unauthorized use.

Please note that Curbsquare is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other websites to which this website may link. You should review the privacy policy of such sites before using them.

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We have implemented systems and policies to protect your personal information such as registration information. We store all information in a secure Class-A facility. If you make an on-line purchase for a paid Curbsquare.com service all information is routed using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption.

On occasion Curbsquare retains the services of external contractors. These contractors may need your information to handle order processing. We limit the amount of information accessible to these contractors to keep the personal information of customers secure and confidential. We also require that these contractors use personal information only on behalf of Curbsquare.

Curbsquare does not rent or sell your information to third parties.

Curbsquare may however send you special offers and post targeted ads through the System on behalf of third party advertisers. These offers will typically be tailored to your neighborhood but we will not make it possible for advertisers to cross-reference your email to your street address.

Curbsquare adheres to the European Union Safe Harbor principles as set forth by the United States Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use, and retention of personal information from the European Union.

POSTING NEWS, ALERTS, AND EVENTS

Information you submit as a News posting, Alert or Event is deemed public information and is not confidential. There is a risk in such communication venues that information can be collected and used by others. Please be careful and responsible when you are online.

While you are free to post News, Alerts and Events and include your email address, phone, etc. we encourage you to use the “Private Message” system instead. Ask your readers to click on the Private Message icon added automatically by the System at the bottom of every post.

Links (URL) to Curbsquare.com stories that are shared on Twitter or Facebook can only be visited by members authorized to view them. Headlines, contents and images copied and pasted by Curbsquare members to alternate clubs, emails or to external 3rd party services can't be protected.

Report privacy abuses by other members to our Privacy Officer. Please be careful and responsible when you are online.

REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION

There are instances in which Curbsquare may be forced to divulge your personal information, such as where required by law, regulation, or litigation. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that such disclosure should be made for reasons of national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance.
